Hello anglers! We are coming up quickly on the month of May and it looks like the social distancing and staying at home practices are working. The Department of Fish and Wildlife has announced the April 25th fishing opener for Mono and Inyo counties will be delayed until May 31st. This means, all waters that were currently scheduled for open season will not open until then. The year around waters that do remain open, will also have some changes made to bag and possession limits to protect the fish here from excessive and increased angling pressure.

We are eagerly awaiting the month of June at this point, and I strongly believe that the fishing will be excellent at this later opening date, since there will be zero pressure on these fisheries until then.

In the meantime, keep working on those casting skills, and May will remain a great month for getting all of your gear in order for the upcoming season. Change out those old fly lines, freshen up your tippet spools, and get those fly boxes stocked and ready.

We still have a few of our “ready to fish” fly boxes available along with our full fly selection on our website here.

This would have been one of the warmest weather openers on record, as Crowley Lake will see temperatures this weekend in the 70’s and rising close to the 80’s by next week. The midge hatches will get a boost from this for sure. We have some new patterns for Crowley that should be available by June. With shipping times being delayed, materials are taking a week or so longer to receive than expected. However, our shipping times to you on our current fly selection has not changed, and you can still expect delivery by priority mail in the 2-4 day time frame.

Looking forward to seeing everyone again in the near future, and thank you for hanging in there during this critical time. See you soon and, Be the Fly…
