Fall River Fishing Report

Fly and Field Outfitters

The Fall provides great opportunities to sight fish for large trophy sized Rainbow trout in crystal clear water. Most fish are eating small midge and mayfly nymphs on very light tippet under an indicator or larger dry fly. Unfortunately the hatchery is still closed to the public, limiting access to the falls and the campground. Despite the limited space and crowds, people are still finding some good numbers of fish in the upper and lower sections of the river. In the next week I would keep an eye out for some bigger mayflys to start hatching mid-day with the warmer weather and maybe some smaller caddis in the evenings. They are stocking the Fall but have not released the schedule yet to the public, some new fish went in last week so now is the time to get out there!

Suggested Dries: Purple Haze #16-22, Purple Chubby Chernobyl #12-14, Griffith’s Gnat #18-24, Tilt Wing PMD and BWO #16-20, Para Cricket #12-16, Henrys Fork Caddis black #16-20

Suggested Nymphs: Two Bit Hooker Red or Black #16-20, Zebra Midge #18-22, Clown Egg, Black Rainbow Warrior #16-20, San Juan Worm red or Maroon #12
