East Lake has been fishing well. The water is low, warm and turbid. An algae bloom is also present. Fish can still be found out there. Surface action is best in early mornings and the evenings. Terrestrials and callibaetis seem to be the most productive. Deep nymphing is the way to go for numbers. Going down deeper than 10 feet is optimal. Chironomids and callibaetis have been working well, size 16 or lower seems to be the best. More general patterns, like dark assassins, are super effective as well. Tie on a balanced leech along with your nymphs for a deadly combo. Don’t forget about the damselfly nymphs, they’re important to have. We have some cooler days in the forecast. If we continue to avoid abnormal heat and get some rain the stillwater fisheries will see some cooler water.

Suggested Flies: Bird’s Nest Hare’s Ear #14-18, Dark Assassin #14-18, Bird’s Nest Or Black Depth Charge #14-18, Red or Black Zebra Midge #16-18, Black or Red Chironocone #14-18, Poxyback Callibaetis #16-18, Feather Duster Callibaetis #16-18, Flashback PT #14-18, Red or Black Yankee Buzzer #14,  Bruised Balanced Leech #10-14, Ruby Leech #10-12, Black Wooly Bugger #10-12, Olive Wooly Bugger #10-12, Black or Rust Slump Buster #10-12, Thin Mint #10-12, Olive or Black BH Mini Leech #12, Balanced Damsel #14, Dainty Damsel #14, Scotts Damsel #14
