We’ve been seeing some decent action out on the Crooked. Prineville Reservoir has finally started to fill up some. Thankfully it’s looking like we will get some good precipitation this week, let’s hope that pattern continues. Surface action is scarce, if anything is hatching it is most likely tiny midges or possibly BWOs. As we get closer to spring, expect BWOs in larger sizes to show up, as well as small caddis. The water is still a bit off-color so small red nymphs have been our favorite, think sizes 16-22. Two-bit hookers and Tailwater Tinys are tough to beat on the Crooked. The Crooked is a bit shallow right now so focusing on deeper areas is beneficial. Soon enough we’ll be seeing some Skwalas hatching, and mothers day caddis should be here in a few months.
