EAST WALKER RIVER

The EW is running about 51 cfs right now and is fishing pretty well. It’s still pretty off color due to the algae coming through the dam from the Reservoir but the fish are still biting. The water temps are mostly in the low 60’s now and the fish are feeling well. We’ve had reports of lots of smaller fish being caught as well as some good fish pushing 20 inches. Streamers in the mornings have been producing and mostly nymphs throughout the day. Some patterns to try: sculpzilla, razor craw, dead drift crayfish, zuddler, san juan worm, squirmy wormy, perdigon nymph, soft hackle, zebra midge, darth baetis, buckskin caddis, fox’s poopah.

SCEIRINE RANCH

The reports we’ve heard from the ranch are much like the California side, lots of good nymphing and some good streamer action thrown in. Much the same patterns seem to be working on the Nevada side as on the Cali side. There’s openings on the ranch, if you’re interested just give us a call.

BRIDGEPORT RESERVOIR

The reservoir still hasn’t livened up quite yet, hopefully with the colder nighttime temperatures the water will keep getting clearer and the action will improve.

KIRMAN LAKE

We didn’t talk to anyone about Kirman this week but based on the reports from last week I’d expect it to still be fishing well. Pack some leech and scud patterns as well as a handful of soft hackles and you should be able to have a good time.

TWIN LAKES

The Twins are producing some fish both from the shore and from boats, the kokanee are spawning so it’s time to use some orange colors in your baits and lures. We haven’t seen any big browns yet but there’s been some nice rainbows up to around 4 pounds being caught. Pinched crawlers, power eggs and inflated crawlers have been working for bait anglers, mini jigs, Kastmasters and Thomas Bouyants for lure anglers. Twin Lakes specials, wooly buggers, seal buggers and soft hackles have been producing for the fly anglers.

WEST WALKER RIVER

The West is still producing some fish here and there, it sounds like the best areas have been near the Sonora bridge on Highway 108 and along Highway 395 closer to the town of Walker. Lure anglers can try Panther Martins and Roostertails, bait anglers can go with salmon eggs, power eggs and night crawlers. Fly anglers can go with hoppers, beetles, ants, prince nymphs, copper johns and small wooly buggers.

VIRGINIA LAKES

The Virginias are also kicking out lots of fish, bait anglers are using power bait, pinched crawlers and mice tails while lure anglers are using mini jigs and Thomas bouyants. Fly anglers can go with mini leeches, soft hackles, seal buggers and zug bugs.
