Flows have stabilized around 300 cfs below Bowman Dam, and the Crooked is fishing well across the board. Cooler weather and consistent conditions are keeping trout active throughout the day.
Nymphing remains the most reliable tactic. Euro rigs and traditional indicators are both getting it done with Zebra Midges, small Pheasant Tails, 2 Bit Hookers, and Perdigons. A dry-dropper setup with a smaller Chubby and a caddis pupa or attractor nymph underneath is a great way to cover water and pick off opportunistic feeders in the riffles and pockets.
Caddis and PMDs are hatching steadily, with some solid dry fly windows in the afternoons and evenings. A size 16 or 18 Purple Haze or Parachute Adams has been all you need when fish are up.
ODFW will be conducting electrofishing surveys from June 24 to 27 between Big Bend and Cobble Rock. Anglers should be courteous and expect brief pauses if they’re in that zone.
