As the weather heats up so does the fishing at Crowley Lake

TwoBugDoug here filling in for both T-Loe and Doug Rodricks as they are guiding up at Eagle Lake this month. As for the Sierras, well it's what we have all been waiting for, some warmer spring like weather up here in our beautiful Sierras and I must say....It's about time. So, pack your sunscreen and bug repellent on your next trip up here and let the lip ripping begin.

Hanging some fish and ripping lots of lips is exactly what seems to be a developing pattern out here on Crowley Lake this last week. As warmer temperatures heat the Sierras, so does the water of the lake and that is all it takes for our fish to start moving into the 9-15 feet of water feeding vigorously on Midges. We have had some very consistent times with our Under-cators getting pulled down hard with fish averaging 16-18 inches and many in the 20-22 inch range as well.

We have been hanging most of these fish at Sandy Pt. in 13-15 feet of water and seeing fish caught in 9-12 feet to. Seems Midges in size 18-20 grey and black colors are working best. Layton Springs, Big Hilton and Pelican Pt. are holding good numbers of fish as well.

As the weather forecast predicts temperatures to get into the 70's and low 80's this next couple of weeks, fishing conditions will only improve out on Crowley. This means more of the larger Rainbows and Browns will become targets to our custom fly patterns. It's a good time to start planning a trip to Crowley or book a trip with us and let these big Crowley Fish show you that stuff behind your fly line we call backing.....they will do that.

We hope to Fish Ya Soon,

TwoBugDoug, Sierra Drifters Guide Service
