Stripping is working better at Lake Crowley than midging for Fly Fishermen

Water Conditions:
There is some nasty, stringy Algae all over the lake moving daily and throughout the day. Comes and goes with wind in north arm. Still clear most of the time there or by the mouth. Lake has finally started to drop and is down about 3 feet from high water point.. Massive weed beds every where are starting to show.

Fishing Conditions and Hatches:
Rain/snow last two days - I watched TV in warm house. Update coming on Late Thursday. Looks like weekend will be sunny and warm again. McGee still has some big fish but they move around daily in the weeds chasing fry or by the mouth where the water is always clear. Stripping working better than midging. Good concentrations of smaller fish up to 16" between the shore and the weed line all along Green Banks from Green Banks Bay all the way up to the weather pole. The big fish are for the most part in deeper water like16-19 feet along the old stream channel.

Recommended Flies:

NYMPHS:

#12 Birds Nest, #16 Black Optimidge w/green flashback Mickey's Shaft Emerger - big, Ultimate Damsel, Jansens Calbaetis. Larvae patterns early.

DRIES:
Extended body BWO's but not too many fish sipping on the surface. It may never happen this summer as flooded desert by mouth just isn't producing hatches.

STREAMERS:
Stillwater Hares, Perfection Perch, Punk Perch, Hornbergs, Ultimate Damsel.

Guides Hint:
Don't forget marabou leach patterns this time of year stripping and under the indicator.
