Current Lake Conditions: Fishing has been fair to kinda slow, then good! The game on Baum is about finding the right spot. The fish are there and some anglers are doing well.

Focus on fishing Baum early in the day, and then again near sunset. Stripping leeches and buggers is the best method for fooling the big rainbows hiding in the weeds. Good fishing happens for anglers suspending small, very small nymphs under indicators. Try nymphs like the WD-40. Fishing has been fair over all.

The Fly Shop's ? Tips: Hatches consist of Damsel flies and early AM midges. Best results are obtained fishing sub-surface through the summer months. Stripping and retrieving Damseleechs or Swimming Leeches on intermediate sinking lines is a great tactic as is suspending #22 black Zebra Midges or Mercer's Gidget under a small indicator. Try a black A.P. on a slow retrieve. There are a lot of scuds in Baum Lake, making various scud patterns an obvious choice.

Baum Lake is an ideal fishing destination for pontoon boats, float tubes and small prams.

Fishing an Intermediate sinking line with a Damsel nymph or small PT nymph can produce a bent fly rod. The key is SLOW strips! Nothing in Baum Lake is moving fast. Use lighter, longer leaders. Delicate dry-fly presentations will produce more strikes.
