The Fall has been fishing great. Green drakes, pale morning duns, blue wing olives, caddis and midges are the predominant hatches right now. Caddis are more prevalent on hot days, while mayflies can offer good surface action in warm or cool conditions. Midges are always something to consider for the fall, especially if the trout seem to be rising to nothing. Nymphing is almost always most productive with smaller flies around size 22 - 16, but in the summer sometimes the fish can be fooled by bigger bugs. Midges, small mayflies and caddis pupa are good flies to start with. Every report I’ll mention streamers for the fall, they work well as a hail mary fly. In the cooler weather this week I’d be willing to bet the mayfly action will  be great.
