Smoke has been light to heavy over the past week impacting the experience for those heading up to fish Baum. There are a ton of midges, size #16-18 red and copper colored pupa patterns work well, like Zebra Midges. With more Caddis coming off don't forget to bring Bird's Nests, Poopahs and Bubble Back Caddis to dead drift or swing. Soft Hackles work great here too. Damselflies are abundant and Zach's Swimming Damsel is a good pattern. Sinking lines with Wooly Buggers and ZT's Balanced Swimming Leeches are a great choice to get some big fish. Small nymphs under a dry dropper is the best way to get a high number of fish without scaring the trout in there. Our guides have this place wired if you are looking for some tactical advice on fishing a great spring creek fishery with an expert!
