The water level has been fluctuating a bit, but it held near 29 percent of capacity. Water temperatures remained in the upper seventies. Bass fishing was great last week with anglers reporting a continuation of the topwater and finesse bait bite. Buzz baits, small walking baits, and poppers all worked for bites until the sun got hot. After that most anglers switch to drop shot, Carolina rigs, Ned rigs, or Senkos. The bass have been holding in 5 to 30 feet of water along bluff walls and main lake points. Striper are still boiling on shad, and they can be targeted with Kastmasters, topwater, and jerkbaits. Trolling umbrella rigs and flies has also been very effective. Catfish anglers scored bites using cut baits, dip bait, and chicken liver, and crappie anglers targeted the lagoon with minijigs.
