The Metolius has been fishing well. Nymphing has been hot and we like a double nymph rig with a golden stone or october caddis as the top fly and a small caddis or mayfly pattern down below. It is wise to be prepared for a variety of hatches as well and have a nice selection of caddis, BWO’s, PMD’s and a few stoneflies to round things out. Stripping large streamers is a good way to target bull trout. Swinging leeches, sculpin, and crayfish patterns is also a good way to fool some larger rainbows. The MEtolius is a great place to spend a fall day so get out there and find some fish!
