Fishing in the day stretch has been steady, with strong afternoon and evening caddis activity keeping fish looking up. Target shaded banks, overhanging trees, and current seams where trout are holding in classic caddis lies. Foam-bodied caddis, X-Caddis, and the new Center Stage Caddis are producing on top, while subsurface work with caddis pupa assortments, Jig PMD nymphs, Pink Track Suits, and Berry PCPs will keep rods bent during the heat of the day. A well-placed Blue Lightning Bug can also move fish in deeper runs. Watch the wind forecast—if it kicks up in the canyon, focus on nymphing tight to structure and drop-offs. Also worth noting, steelhead are starting to be caught downriver and fish counts look strong, so keep a two-hander or big single-hand ready if you’re heading farther downstream.
