Continues to Fish Really Well!

The Metolius River continues to fish really well with steady flows, excellent water clarity, and strong bug activity throughout the system.

PMDs remain the primary afternoon hatch and caddis activity continues to improve during the evenings. Fish are spending more time looking up and we're beginning to see more Green Drakes entering the conversation as we move deeper into June. BWOs are still showing during cooler mornings but are becoming less of a factor overall.

Nymphing remains a productive day-to-day approach. Golden stones, caddis pupa, perdigons, jigged mayfly patterns, hare’s ears, and smaller attractor nymphs continue to produce fish consistently. Pocket water, seams, and softer edges remain the most productive places to focus your efforts.

Dry fly opportunities continue to be one of the highlights on the Metolius right now. PMDs, caddis, and the first meaningful Green Drake activity are bringing fish to the surface more consistently throughout the day. Bull trout fishing has also remained solid for anglers covering deeper structure with streamers and larger sculpin patterns.

The Metolius is fishing exactly how it should in June with active fish, healthy bug activity, and increasingly consistent dry fly opportunities throughout the system.

Suggested Dries:
March Brown #12-14, Purple Haze #16-20, PMD Sparkle Dun #16-18, Elk Hair Caddis #14-18, Green Drake Comparadun #10-12, CDC PMD Emerger #16-18

Suggested Nymphs:
Golden Stone Nymphs #8-10, Brown Jimmy Legs #8-12, Jigged Hare’s Ear #14-16, Jigged Pheasant Tail #14-16, Copper John #16-18, Lightning Bug #14-18, Sparkle Pupa #16-18, Olive Perdigon #16-18
