The Lower Deschutes River continues to fish exceptionally well and dry fly season is in full swing throughout. Golden stones, PMDs, and caddis are now driving much of the surface activity and fish are spending long periods of the day looking up.

Fish are holding tight to grassy banks, rock walls, ledges, and softer shoreline structure where they can take advantage of the steady bug activity. Anglers willing to cover water with larger foam patterns continue to find aggressive redsides willing to move for a meal.

Subsurface fishing remains a productive option, especially during the mornings before hatch activity peaks. Stonefly nymphs, caddis pupa, mayfly patterns, and attractor nymphs are all producing fish in softer seams, transition water, and walking-speed buckets.

Bugs are abundant, fish are feeding and there are opportunities throughout the day whether you're fishing dries, nymphs, or a combination of both.
