Current Lake Conditions:
This great still water/spring creek-like destination always gets ignored at this time of year! And why not! Lewiston Lake feeds the Trinity River where anglers clamber for a spot to cast a line and catch one of angling's "finest". But over on Lewiston, the rainbow trout average 16". Fish over 22" are common. At this time of year, the fish are keying on midges, BOWs, a diminishing supply of Callibaetis and Tricos. There are a lot of scuds and aquatic snails in this reservoir and the rainbows eat'm up. Select some flies off the menu below and spend a day or two fishing this perfect lake.

The Fly Shop's ? Tips:
You can't go too small. Can you? When using indicators, the takes can be difficult to see and detect, and then the takes can be electric. Successful indicator anglers keep the flies in the water, all the way to the backing, then low and slow retrieve. Sink tip fly lines allow anglers to retrieve leeches and buggers fast or slow. This lake is best fished from a motorized boat, pram or pontoon boat. Float tubes are fine if you are okay with walking back up to the parking lot after the slow current of Lewiston pushes you to the southern end of the lake.
