The Crooked is holding steady with solid summer conditions—clear flows, eager trout, and active whitefish. Early mornings and late afternoons continue to offer the most consistent action, especially before and after the sun hits its peak. Subsurface presentations are leading the charge: Zebra Midges (in olive, red, and black), Tailwater Tinies, Mini Jig Leeches, and the new Fulling Mill Balanced Scud are all producing fish. The Warrior Jig has also been a standout lately, especially in deeper slots and slower seams.

Dry-dropper setups with an Elk Hair Caddis on top and any of the above below are a great way to cover both feeding zones. Light tippet, long leaders, and clean drifts remain essential. If you’re on the water during the heat of the day, focus on deeper buckets and shaded stretches—fish are still there, just more selective. The Crooked continues to be a great option for consistent summer trout fishing if you stay technical and patient.
