The Crooked River continues to fish very well below with stable flows coming out of Bowman providing excellent water clarity, and consistent trout activity throughout the system.

PMDs have become the primary hatch on much of the river and are creating increasingly reliable dry fly opportunities during the afternoons. Caddis continue to show during the evenings, while midges remain an important food source throughout the day.

Subsurface presentations continue to be the most productive approach overall. Zebra midges, Two Bit Hookers, perdigons, PMD nymphs, caddis pupa, and small attractor patterns are all producing fish. The most consistent action is coming from deeper seams, tail outs, riffle transitions, and softer buckets where trout can feed comfortably throughout the day.

Dry fly fishing has steadily improved with PMDs providing the best opportunities during afternoon hatch windows. Fish can still be selective at times, making accurate presentations and drag-free drifts especially important during periods of surface activity.
